Rosenfeld Media books for user experience professionals
Mar 1st, 2010
If you are a user experience professional and not familiar with Rosenfeld Media books, you should be. Rosenfeld Media is a independent book publisher that focuses on publishing UX books that are short, practical, and useful. The thing I like most about Rosenfeld Media is that they really do pull in some of the most brilliant professionals in our industry that not only can talk the talk about they also walk the walk. They are doers, not just big names. They also don’t pad their books, the book is as many pages as it needs to be to get the information communicated. You can read more about Rosenfeld Media’s unique and refreshing approach to publishing on their about page.
Rosenfeld Media is headed up by Louis Rosenfeld. Lou is the co-author of the popular book,Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, lovingly named the polar bear book and now in its third edition. Lou is also one of the founders of what is now known as the Information Architecture Institute. He has been involved with more online publications, organizations, and efforts in the user experience community than I could list here. For these reasons and more some refer to Lou as the godfather of information architecture, tho he’s a bit younger than that and probably wont put a horse head in your bed for improper IA practice.
I believe it is because of Lou’s passion and understanding of user experience that every book published that has carried the Rosenfeld Media name has proven to be invaluable to professionals such as myself. I want to take a moment to publicly thank Lou for all that he has done for our community of user experience professionals today, and the generations that will join us for years to come. Lou, it is because your efforts that we are here in the first place, doing what we love. Thank you.
In this light, I am planning on writing a series of blog posts about those known and unknown in our industry who are helping us advance our careers and the profession of user experience at large. I have a short list of people I think should be recognized, but its not just about what I think, its about what you think too. If you know of someone who you feel should be recognized for helping advance the user experience profession please let me know.
