Content Inventory

A Content Inventory document is essentially a spreadsheet that documents every piece of content on the web site or within the database. Each line item is a separate page or article and the inventory will typically contain information such as author, publication date, URL, catagory, sub-catagory, type of document, file format and so forth.
The content inventory we created for Digital Web Magazine needs to be updated all the time because new content is always being added to the site weekly. The main reason for taking the inventory is to catalog all of the articles for the up and coming redesign. This way it will be easier for us to organize information, set redirect for articles that have moved, and establish more details about what kinds of articles we have.
