The FDIC web site was recently redesign by GotoMedia, a new look and feel had been added to the first, second, and some third tier pages. As you can imagine the FDIC contains several thousand pages of information and tools.
I was asked by GotoMedia to review the site and give it a detailed inspection which included checking for inconsistencies in design, adherence to basic level accessibility guidelines, usability testing, browser testing and web standards validation.
Using some customized tools I was able to reduce the amount of work involved in checking the entire site by about 80% and improve the accuracy of the testing by about 25%.
