Style Guide
PacifiCorp
Style Guides are critical part of maintaining a strong brand for any web site or company. Without a style guide a brand will quickly become distored and inconsistant. The style guide document helps maintain global consistancy around a brand starting with it's logo, color, typography and much more. This can also be addressed on a technical level, for example making sure all web pages look identical and function in a simular fassion.
While at PacifiCorp I was tasked with creating a technical style guide for their Intranet sites. PacifiCorp is a very large company and has several teams and departments working across all of their Intranet sites. My job was to take the basic styles outlined in the print style guide that the company used for creating business cards, brosures an so forth, and to apply that on a more technical level to the web style guide. This document would be used by programmers and office workers alike. It would also be used for working with third party agencies when creating new Intranet applications.
