Wireframes

Wireframes are essentially the blueprints that define well constructed site. While the design comps will detail the visual style of the site, the wireframes provide detail for the flow and organization of information within each page of a site. Some wireframes contain enough detail to be considered a comp, while others are more like brief sketches outlining the basic structure.

For Digital Web Magazine we created a wireframe for each primary section and the relevant sub sections under that. The primary content of each page is broken down to how it should be organized and presented to the user. Functionality is communicated through the wireframes in the form of way markers. Elements that help the user understand where they are at within the overall site and what other areas they can go to. Color was used as a way marker in the wireframes you see here. Tabs also contained on and off states for visual clues as to the site's structure.
